Welded Mesh

Welded mesh or spot welded mesh, composed of intersecting wires and strips, is probably one of the most frequently used materials. A characteristic aspect of these materials is that the wires are spot-welded at the intersections, which ensures a strong and rigid product.

Applications are found in almost every industry. Averinox  supplies welded meshes as a support of constructions or as a finishing layer, a protective layer ( protection ), fencing or as a cover. Welded meshes are also used as support of filtration media in many types of filters. A special type of welded wire mesh, the so-called V-wire is mostly used for filtration. Hexagonal mesh or flex steel is a speciality used for refractory applications.

In many cases, the characteristics can be combined. Materials that are first of all used or functional purposes, can be attractive and colourful at the same time, naturally. Many of these products are made of mild, plain or electrolytical or hot-dip galvanised steel. Also stainless steel like 304L and 316L are commonly used, see Stainless Steel Types.

In general, wire mesh is made of round, twined, rectangular or v-shaped wires (v-wire) that are welded together.  An exception is rotated (looped) v-wire mesh (see example above). This type is characterized by a very high strength and is usually NOT welded. Welded mesh is available both in the form of flat panels and in the form of cylindrical constructions. Please find below some basic parameters of welded mesh.

Averinox also provides hexagonal mesh (also called floor steel or flex metal) as reinforcement / support for a wear-resistant / refractory lining of cylons, incinerators. This type of mesh is strictly speaking not welded mesh, but is often spot welded on intersections to strengthen the strip material which result in more stifness.  The specific material is available in a number of standard types.

Below you can find an example. This type of mesh is composed of strip material. A riged structure will be obtained by means of mechanical connections. Then, it might be rolled on the size / format of the background construction (vessel).  Please contact us for appropriate advice in your situation.There are several worldwide licensors specifications in use.
